It’s time for another summer of blockbuster movies to hit the big screen, and although summer 2011 seems to mostly consist of sequels, all of them are still highly anticipated and will draw the crowds in their thousands. And there’s a movie for every taste: Captain America and X-Men for comic book fans, Kung Fu Panda and The Smurfs 3D for animation junkies, and Pirates of the Caribbean and Cowboys and Aliens for those who want some fun adventure. Whatever you’ll be watching this summer, take a look below at our brief guide to the biggest and best of the season!

The summer music festivals may have already begun but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to sort out out your suitable wardrobe for the festival season. Gone are the days of dressing in your waterproofs and wellies in preparation for trudging around in the mud, instead it’s as much about what you wear as it is about the music. Granted, the weather may still be against us here in the UK, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be dressing for the sun (while still having your raincoat ready!) The trick is to dress in light layers; team your floral vest and denim shorts with a hooded jacket (even in the rain, it’s not likely to get too cold, so chunky knits are not necessary). Besides, you’re the one that will need to carry around any extra outerwear that you wish to take, so the lighter your clothes, the better. And don’t forget your trusted umbrella, just in case!

I’m bringing you inspiration from a far away place today, somewhere filled with such charm and beauty that it was used as a backdrop for the 2001 movie Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, starring Nicholas Cage and Penelope Cruz. With it’s breathtaking beaches, some of the most beautiful in the world, it is no wonder that it is becoming more and more popular with tourists seeking a Greek getaway, and yet it keeps its quiet nature, largely unspoilt by the commercialism seen across many parts of mainland Europe. This is what travel companies have to say about this gem of an island.
Craggy cliffs and cool caves, pine woods and pristine beaches, clear blue skies … and clear blue seas – Nature’s contribution to holidays in Kefalonia. And this knock-out scenery isn’t just good to look at. It’s great to experience. Sail to dazzling white sands accessible only by boat … row across the perma-cold underground lake of Mellisani …climb the hills behind Lassi for views of sunset and sea …or just pick a waterfront taverna for sundowners and mezes.
Kefalonia holidays are all about stress-free simplicity – ideal for those who plan to make the most of the sun. Lassi is the busiest and best known resort, its broad sweeps of pale sand come complete with beach bars and watersports. Couples will love the romantic views and relaxing amenities of two of its best hotels – the Mediterranee and the Hotel White Rocks. But look north too – to the cliffs and coves of Fiskardo, for a touch of luxury on a hideaway honeymoon. Families would feel right at home in some of the sleepier villages – like Lourdas or Trapezaki – where the kids could be having a splashing time in your villa’s private pool. And Skala, with its pavement cafes and 4km of gently shelved shore, draws every age group in to its friendly little streets.
Why not spend a few hours (or days, if you can spare the time) finding out about the beauty and wonder Kefalonia has to offer, and maybe even take a little trip there if you’re intrigued as to what draws people to its magical shores. In fact, I am booked to go this September, so I may even see you there!

I have a huge soft spot for anything vintage, so I thought I’d end Sunday with a photo of lots of pretty things that epitomise all that is vintage. Keys, clocks, lace, plus a bunch of other things that can be incorporated into every part of your life, whichever way you choose: whether it’s a pretty hair piece with a bunch of feathers, a cream lace dress or a gold key necklace to add a vintage touch to a plain tee. Enjoy your Sunday, maybe imagine yourself in a different time and place, with a pop of red lip color on your lips and your hair in vintage curls! ♥
As you can see, the design is up and looking fantastic, thanks to the wonderful Micah over at AltCoast.com who got it finished this weekend. It’s great to see a design which is so alike to the feel and look that we originally wanted for this blog – chic and sophisticated, with an element of fun. We hope you like it anyways, and we are now ready to begin with adding the precious content and getting some ideas and inspiration to you guys. We hope everything we post here is somehow useful to you, whether it’s inspiration for a new outfit, an idea for your next vacation or just a new nail polish color that you end up trying out. As well as this though, we’ll have some daily ramblings and pretty photos, taken by us or others, to simply brighten your day in any way we can.
We hope you’ll return often and tell your friends about us, and also comment on anything you see here, we’re more than excited to hear what you think about what you see here, and look forward to some lively discussions on your latest likes and dislikes.
Anyway, take a look around at what we have up so far, and keep coming back to see all the new things on offer ♥.
