A review of Birchbox from Lucy:
“I’ve now been receiving Birchbox boxes for three months and have also purchased their special edition Selfridges selection, which I was tempted into whilst browsing online. If you’re not familiar with the concept of Birchbox, then it’s pretty simple: you sign up for either 3, 6 or 12 months, pay a monthly fee (you save money when you sign up for longer) and then you receive a box each month containing samples of beauty products. They have a bunch of amazing brands in their mix, from Rituals and REN to Cowshed and Benefit and it’s a great way to try out products before you decide whether to part with your money and buy full sized items.
I’ve been really pleased with everything I’ve received so far and have only received one or two things that I haven’t been bowled over by. It’s pretty good value considering what you get in each box, even if some of the sample sizes are on the small side. I’ve already received items that have made it into my daily beauty routine, so it’s already been worth it.
Another big perk is that you can collect points while you shop and review, which can be used to take money of their shop. This has been great for me, as I’ve already saved £20 off two products which I bought from their website. They’re always expanding their range too, so you never quite know what new brands you’ll receive items from.
You can also gift a subscription, which would make for a great Christmas or birthday present, given the time of year. Plus, if you refer friends you get money off other purchases, so it really is win-win. If you don’t like sample sizes, especially when you don’t know what you’re getting, this probably isn’t for you, but if you want to give a bunch of beauty products a try and see if you discover anything new, then go for it, it’s great value and I’m sure you’ll discover some gems.
